Zinc Rich Primer

Designed to be used as a primer in several paint systems. It has high corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance.

Over Coating Procedure:

As zinc rich coatings are porous, pinholes are likely to develop in the subsequent coat as a result of solvent popping. If you want to minimize pinholes, apply a mist coat first, let the trapped air escape, then apply a full coat. Until a proper topcoat is applied, zinc rich primers will begin to form white rust. White rust spots are zinc corrosion products. As a result of exposure to a zinc rich coating and the surrounding environment, white rust will form to a different extent. Prior to applying the subsequent coats, it is important to ensure that all white rust has been removed.

Directions for use:

• The condition of the substrate and the surface coating
• The steel has been blast cleaned to Swedish specification Sa 3 / 2.
• A surface temperature of at least 3 degrees Celsius above the dew point but not exceeding 50 degrees Celsius is required

Mixing:

For quick and homogeneous mixing, stir the base and hardener separately to get an even mix, then add hardener slowly to the base while stirring constantly.

• Mixing ratio: Base : Hardener :: 3 :1(v/v)
• Induction time: 30 minutes
• Pot life at 30C: 8 hours

Application:

• Using a Brush:
• Recommended thinner: Vib Thinner No. 8
• Volume of thinner: 0 - 10 %

Through air spray

• Recommended thinner: Vib Thinner No. 7.
• Volume of thinner: 5 - 20 %
• Nozzle orifice: 1.5 - 3.0 mm
• Nozzle pressure: 0.3 - 0.4 MPas

Through airless spray

• Recommended thinner: Vib Thinner No. 8
• Volume of thinner: 0 - 15 %
• Nozzle orifice: 0.41 - 0.48 mm
• Nozzle pressure: 20 - 24 MPas
